Presentation 3 - 03/05/2010

We had our presentation 3, and we are supposed to present a more details of our ideas and present the further process of what we did from the second presentation to the third presentation.

In the third presentation, i added in the details of my casting, my mood board, my location recce, the details of schedule from pre-production to post-production. We also had to present our storyboard and had to explain the details of each shot, how the scene will be like, and how will i carried out my shots.

The third presentation allowed the other to understand each other idea better and had a more clearer view on how the video will be like.

After the presentation, it was also the date to submit our pre-production package which included proposal, synopsis, treatment, target audience user profile analysis and research, production schedule, mood board, storyboard, development sketches, screenplay, ideation, research and references.

Consultation 2

Consultation 2 - 28/04/2010

I had my second consultation with wahidah, and i consulted on my learning contract. Learning contract was very important as this where we decided which areas we wanted to be mark on. The consultation was when i able to show Wahidah of what i had wrote, and discussed on the parts which i did not understand and did not know how to write about it.

The problem identified was i didn't show clearly what type of effects i want to have on audience after watching the video and i can include more effects. After the consultation, i have to start working on my script/screenplay.

That's all for my consultation on learning contract, and we are supposed to hand in our learning contract and proposal on 30/04/2010, Friday.

Presentation 2 - 26/04/2010

We had second presentation on my chosen idea. My storyline had changed to a teenager guy instead of an old lady, the reason why he was obsessed with jigsaw puzzle was because he faced family, school and friendship problems. He realized that whenever he started fixing the jigsaw puzzle he felt that he was able to escape from the reality and stress, and he will found satisfactions from it. Slowly he started to get addicted in jigsaw puzzle and became to forgo the things around him, example the computer games, television, and even homework. As time goes by, he stop doing his school work, stop going to school and even from times to times he skip his meal and often felt hungry in the middle of the night.

The concept of the story remained the same except for the ending i changed to, he received part by part of the puzzle each night instead of receiving the whole piece in one night. This was to increase the suspension to the audience and make the audience to guess along the way.

In the second presentation, we also included our schedule, casting, budget, target audience, format, treatment and genre.

The reason why i chose teenager as my main character was because i wanted to deliver the message that hobby is good, but obsession will "killed" people. In other words, how obsessing in one thing will bring harm to him/her, and how does obsession make one forget things that are important to them. This video is to alert the audience to stop being obsess in things, especially teenagers.

That's my second presentation.

Consultation 1

Consultation 1 - 23/4/2010

I had my first consultation with wahidah on my chosen idea. I wrote out the whole storyline of my idea and consulted with wahidah on how my story flowed. I also explained how some of my shots will be like and how does the entire scene look. The problem identified for the story was my character profile did not build up well, thus causing confused to the audience. The ending was not strong enough to attract the audience too.

After the consultation, i decided to change part of my story especially on the front part when i can used it to build up my character, examples what caused him to obsess with jigsaw puzzle, the background and history of the character had to be included. The ending had to be change in the way that the story will became more suspense and exciting.

That's my first consultation on Project three.

presentation 1

Presentation 1 - 22/04/2010

We had Presentation on that day, and we were supposed to present our three ideas. My first ideas was about this "three bottles of milk" story, where there was a lady in white who went into a store and steal a bottle of milk from the dairy section. The store man noticed it but failed to catch her for the first two times. When the third times came, the store man got ready and followed her all the way to a cemetery. The lady was nowhere to be seen and he heard a baby's cry, it was coming from a tomb and he decided to dig it out. Below the tomb was a alive baby and three empty bottles of milk.

My second idea was a man who got stared by an old lady in supermarket, he got freaked out but the old lady approached him and claimed that he look like his past away son. He requested the man to shout "goodbye mum" when she left and he agreed. He did so when she left and he moved forward to pay for his item. To his surprised, the amount exceeded what he supposed to pay, and he realized that he was being cheated by the old lady.

My third idea was an old lady who stay alone in a deserted place after his husband past away. Her love for jigsaw puzzle never change, and she would stay up all day to fix the jigsaw puzzle, moreover there were no television at that time and there were no signal for audio due to her location. She completed the jigsaw puzzle one after and after and one fine day, she used up all her puzzle. Feeling upset and got nothing to do, she went to bed early and she heard a loud thud sound. Out of curiosity, she found a parcel lying on the floor. She picked it out and realized it was jigsaw puzzle, being excited she did not bother who send it to her or what will be the picture be. She sat down and fixed it. The picture look familiar as she fixed along and it was the picture of her sitting in the living room. With the last few pieces left, it's revealed a strong man holding an axe standing at the window behind her. The breaking of the glass was the last thing that can be heard.

I did not chose the first idea as i felt that it was hard to find a cemetery especially i need to dig out a big hole that is enough for the size of coffin, and it is kind of difficult and lots of man power needed to do so. We did not have much time so i dropped this idea.

I did not chose the second idea as well as this film had been done several times and i think it will be boring if i do this again, and i wanted to did a different film that most probably no one had done before.

So that led me to choose my third idea when i found out that i can play with different area and the story enable me to have objective and message that can bring forward to the audience. Especially i can play with different shots with the help of jigsaw puzzle.

That's how i chose my idea.

Shooting Gallery Production House

Reflective Journal

We had a field trip down to shooting gallery production house to understand more on how a production house work. Firstly, we watched the show reel done by them, and i felt it was really awesome as a great amount of works were required to be done. Some of the videos had pretty good art direction. After the show reel, we had a Q&A section whereby we can asked as many question as we want to understand their working environment, and some technique that we are not aware of it.

We moved on to the one of their studios where we did a recording of 2000fps, before that they explained to us how 2000fps can be like, example the bouncing of the ball where we can clearly see how the ball bounce. So at first, the person select some of us to jump and flip our hair during the recording. i think it was kind of interesting but we jump too slow end up we didn't see much from the result. We continued in different ways and person until the whole session ended.

The rest of the time was rounding around the office and explained to us different jobs taken at different places. We even get to see scene setting up and getting ready for filming. What interested us the most was the "Artison Asia" where it loan props, sets and costumes out. We got really excited to see the props they had, and some of it were really retro.

That's the end of the field trip at Shooting Gallery Production House. I think this field trip was quite useful for us as we get the chance to experience with the studio, get to understand how working in production house can be like, prepare us for SIP and even for the future if we intended to enter filming industry. We get to see some of the equipment that we didn't had the chance to see before, and we get to see the real "behind the scene". how long they actually have to set up for the scene and it took a lots of the patience to be success.
